2012 Ice Shanty.com get together

Rescheduled for February 12th - Moved to Bigelow Hollow

Where?
Wethersfield Cove! The cove is at the end of Main St. in Wethersfield. Google yourself up some directions if you have never been there before. It’s right off I91. There’s a large parking lot that runs along the edge of the water. Easy on, easy off.

When?
Sunday, January 5′th 2012. For now, get there when you want, leave when you want. It’s an all day event.
Rain date will be the the following Sunday, Jan 12th

What’s the deal?
This event is open to any current IS members, and family and friends who are there with the INTENT of FISHING. There will be women and children with us, along with the general public, so this will NOT be a party on ice. We’ve always had a good time for everyone. Fish wherever you want in the cove.

If you are an Ice Chef and want to show off yer skills, bring the grill and let us know if you are cooking for one or more, and what you’re bringing. I do ask that if you are cooking for outing members, please bring any serving items required, and provide a garbage bag for disposal. You will need to carry out your trash. Wethersfield does not provide a dumpster at the launch. We want to leave the ice as clean if not cleaner than when we arrived.

If you are fishing this event you must also have your 2012 Freshwater fishing license. Wethersfield Cove is popular and often patroled. Make sure that if you or your family are out there, you are aware of the laws.

Prior to that, during the morning, we will have ongoing on-ice demonstrations of cool new gear:  Fishfinders like Humminbird, Vexilar, Marcum.  Augers like Jiffy and Strike Master. We hope to have the NEW Jiffy Pro 4 propane auger. And Blaine has agreed to demo/instruct Jigging techniques to anyone interested.  To support this we also have (SOME) Jigging rod and reel combos to give away (yes, for free) to anyone coming over for a demo, while supplies last, first come first serve.
Don’t forget to visit the store before hitting the cove and ask for a free dozen small or meduim shiners!!
And while this event is not an official “tournament” we will be weighing and photoing any fish brought over to center ice before NOON, and we’ll have gift cards for the people with the three largest fish, any species!
This is shaping up to be an event NOT TO BE MISSED, so tell your friends!
